Established in 1868 in St. Louis, Missouri, Simmons Hardware Company was a massively successful wholesale hardware company.
They were a pioneer in being the first company to become incorporated and to provide employee profit sharing.
They were the first hardware company to produce an illustrated product catalog with their first issue being released in 1881.
Simmons two most popular knives, the Keen Kutter and the Oak Leaf are still highly collected today.
Simmons Hardware was incredibly successful and aquired multiple businesses during it’s life including Walden Knife Company in 1902.
Hornet and William Enders Oak Leaf were lucrative acquisitions as well.
In 1922 Simmons merged with Winchester and was eventually bought out by Shapleigh Hardware Company.
