Based in Walden, New York Knife Company was founded in 1852. They were the largest supplier of wholesale pocketknives in the US.
Their most popular brands were Hammer and Walkill River Works, but they produced numerous other brand name knives.
One of the most collected knives, official boy scout pocketknives, were originally produced by New York Knife Company.
Numerous brands of pocketknives of varying quality were produced by the company and many are still collected today.
New York Knife Co went out of business for good in 1930. Their Hammer brand was bought by Imperial Knives and was continued to be produced after the closing of New York Knife.
